AGE-WELL (Aging Gracefully Across Environments using Technology to Support Wellness, Engagement and Long Life) is one of the Networks of Centres of Excellence. This network is comprised of 25 core projects, whose goal is to harness the potential of high quality and sustainable technology services and solutions to meet the needs of the current and future generations of older adults in Canada.
OA-INVOLVE Project
OA-INVOLVE (Older Adult’s Active Involvement in Aging and Technology) is one of AGE-WELL’s projects. It was created with the mission to establish models of best practice for the active involvement of older adults in aging and technology projects. These models support technology development that is transdisciplinary and “fit for purpose”, and they intend to improve the independence, health, wellbeing, and quality of life of older adults. The project is informed by our Older Adult Research Partner Group (OARPG) from across Canada (Halifax, Toronto, Guelph and Vancouver) whose roles include acting as advisors and decision-makers throughout the research process.
OA-INVOLVE focuses on:
- Understanding how best to actively involve older adults in technology-related projects
- Evaluating the experience of older adults’ involvement
- Assessing how older adults’ involvement impacts research processes, technology products and services
- Providing support to researchers and developers
